Porto to Santiago

April 6, 2024

I’m preparing for another Camino – this time it’s the Portuguese Central route to Santiago, beginning in Porto.

Ten years ago, I walked the Camino de Santiago from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. Here is the photo of the day I left home. Tillie won’t be waiting on the front porch for me night after night for seven weeks this time, and Sandy won’t be there to pick me up at the airport and welcome me home. But, the adventures must continue. Maybe even more so now.

This route is much shorter. 244 kilometers vs 800. I am ten years older. I don’t plan to carry my pack this time and I’ll be choosing more comfortable accommodations. Although as I start to plan, the idea of a much longer route seems appealing. This time, I won’t be going alone. I’ll be with two adventurous friends, Merideth Tall and Judy Shaw.

Adventures ahead!
